Queens Platinum Jubilee

The Sycamore Craft Group are preparing to celebrate the Queens Platinum Jubilee by decorating around the church car parks with colourful decorations. We will start with a large 70 in flowers on the fence.

We will be sewing up the ‘big 70’ using the big tables. All are welcome to come and have a peep.

Thank you for all the lovely, lovely flowers.

We now have loads and we need to sew them up, so the last day for accepting flowers will be Sunday 8th May or at knitting on Tuesday 10th May.

There is a box for knitted contributions in the Welcome Area.

We will also need some help so if you would like to volunteer to sew flowers on to fabric please let Sylvia know.

There are now 2 boxes in the Welcome Area for knitting:

One, for finished flowers and bunting

One, with spare wool, patterns and knitting needles for taking away.

Pattern for Knitted Bunting – in garter stitch – in red, white and blue

Cast on 2 stitches
Row 1 knit across row increasing one stitch at each end
Row 2 knit across row

Continue these 2 rows until the knitting reaches 7 inches in length.

Sycamore Craft Group

Tuesday 14:00 - 15:30 Sycamore Hall

We are meeting on the 24th to decorate the car park with our lovely knitting.  There is no knitting on May 31st as it is half term.  Neither is there knitting on June 7th because of the funeral of Alison’s mother.

We will be back in the Sycamore Tree in full swing on June 14th.

We meet to knit or crochet and chat. Sometimes more chat than knitting.  We also have a cup of tea or coffee.

We have our own individual craft projects which at the moment include cardigans, soft toys, and a sausage dog draught excluder.

We help each other with difficulties with reading patterns and practical skills. We also help with new skills such as simple crochet.

We also have group projects, such as knitting/crochet displays (yarn bombing), items for charity, and Christmas characters for the local shops.

Sometimes it is nice to do simple small items between other projects.

Our Yarn Bombing project is to create seasonal designs on the chain link fence to brighten our corner at the Larkfield Traffic Lights.

Our next project is colourful flowers and red white and blue crowns for the Platinum Celebrations this June – which coincides with Known and Loved Malling. Contact Sylvia Ratcliff for details
